History of the Mastics & Shirley
Rooted in Legacy, Thriving Today
The Mastics were settled in the 1600s, home to William Floyd — the only Long Island signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Shirley emerged post-WWII, transformed by Walter T. Shirley from summer cottages into a vibrant community. What began with just 8,962 people now thrives with over 55,000 residents and 1,300+ businesses.
Rich in history and natural beauty, The Mastics & Shirley remain a stronghold for community, commerce, and growth.
